Visual Concept
My idea is to create a rough, minimalistic pattern of pixels that corresponds to the front side of the Buildung of “La Voix du Nord”. The pixels seem static and flat, but are resourceful to create strong color arrangements that react to the sound. This pixel-world can be interpreted as the inner soul of the building.
This static inner lifeform is challenged by a second visual layer: a fluid lifeform that can transform freely into different shapes and is created using frame-by-frame animation.
The tension between those two lifeforms / animation styles is the base for a humorous music-driven storyline, where both try to fight each other but end up melting together.
Animation Concept
The Colors and Images the Pixels reproduce, as well as their motion Behaviour (trembling, shaking, pulsating) can be triggered directly by color shape animations.
The fluid form is created in Frame-By-Frame and needs to be planned precisely alongside the sound composing using animatics.
3D-Lights can be used to support the illusion that the fluid lifeform is moving above the building.
Interactions between the two lifeforms can be supported by 2D-Physics-Simulations.
